It’s a fact: no-one likes the costs of litigation and mediation is often seen as an additional (and unnecessary) cost of that process, even though it can lead to a huge saving if the case doesn’t proceed to Court.
Some mediators charge more depending on the value of the claim. I don’t. All claims are important (and therefore of value) to the parties involved. Charging more if the financial amount at stake is more doesn’t seem to me to be the right approach. I am happy to talk about different fee options, but this is the approach that I think works best.
The fees quoted below are for a 2-party mediation. For mediations involving more than two separately represented parties (e.g., where there are more than two separately represented defendants), please contact me for a specific quotation.
All ‘full day’ fees cover preparation (up to 4 hours), travel time and expenses (or room hire and refreshments if the mediation is hosted in my Chambers at 9 St John Street), and the mediation itself up to 9pm on the first day.
Additional time spent on preparation or in mediation (by agreement with the parties) is charged at the rate of £200 + vat per hour (or part hour).
A deferred fee can be offered in suitable cases. Please contact me for further information.
*Half-day mediation: 4 hours maximum, plus preparation. If the parties want to continue after the 4 hour period is over my time charged at the rate of £200 per hour (£100 per party) plus VAT.
